Daraa sits on the Hauran plain in Syria's south, a stretch of fertile volcanic soil that has made this one of the country's agricultural heartlands for centuries, its basalt-stone villages and farmland giving the region a character distinct from Syria's coastal or mountain governorates. That rural, land-centered identity carries directly into its property market.
Daraa is the only governorate on the platform where land and building plots outnumber apartments — by a wide margin, land is the single largest listing category here, something true nowhere else in this data. Apartments are still common, and a notable share of listings are unfinished structures still under construction, painting a picture of a market that's actively building rather than one with a settled, finished housing stock.
It's also almost entirely a sale market for now, with typical asking prices toward the lower-middle of the national range and pricing that runs almost entirely in US dollars. Rental and short-stay activity hasn't really taken hold here yet.
For buyers specifically interested in land or a build-to-order property rather than a finished apartment, Daraa is one of the few governorates in Syria where that's the norm rather than a niche search. It's a market to watch as construction activity matures and its mix shifts toward more finished stock.
